THE NORWEGIAN REFUGEE COUNCIL USA IS A 501(C)3 ORGANIZATION.

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organization helping people forced to flee to secure a future after conflict. In 2016, NRC opened its representation office in Washington, D.C, establishing itself as a leading advocate within the humanitarian community for refugees and displaced people around the world.

NRC USA PRIVACY POLICY

The Norwegian Refugee Council USA (NRC USA) takes privacy and security seriously. At the same time, we want to give you the best possible user experience when you visit our website or have other interactions with us. This policy explains how we collect and use your personal data, and how you can contact us if you have a question concerning our use of your data.

WHAT IS PERSONAL DATA?

Personal data is data that can be used to identify an individual, for example, your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, age, and payment details.

WHEN DO WE COLLECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

NRC USA collects personal data based on your consent when you:

  • make a donation or subscribe to newsletters

  • when we follow up and have dialogue with our users and our supporters,

  • when we send out marketing products and other information about NRC USA.

We may collect your personal data when you visit our website, through text messages, fundraising campaigns on iRaiser and FundraiseUp, when you are registered by our street canvassing team or via a postal bank giro.

WHAT PERSONAL DATA DO WE COLLECT?

NRC USA may collect the following personal data:

  • Phone number

  • Email

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

We store data on how you use our services when this is necessary for us to provide you with the best possible service, such as when you place orders, when we send you a delivery and any other contact we may have with you. We also use this data to generate
statistics and understand trends, as well as to improve, offer, and develop our products and services.
NRC will process and store your personal information as long as it is necessary and permitted under applicable data protection legislation.

HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL DATA SECURE?

NRC USA has implemented a number of security measures to ensure that our internal procedures comply with the security standards required by applicable data protection legislation. NRC USA works constantly to protect your personal data in the best possible way.
NRC USA considers the information about our work and the refugee situation in general on our own websites as reliable. Nevertheless, we cannot guarantee that the information is correct, complete or available at all times. NRC USA thus assumes no liability for errors and omissions on, or lack of availability of, our websites. Further, NRC USA assumes no liability for the material prepared or published by third parties, even if our websites contain links to other websites.

WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

NRC USA uses digital third-party solutions. Some of these actors are data processors and are subject to data protection legislation outside of the US. They have separate agreements with us regarding data processing and related security measures.

NRC USA uses third parties such as - Episerver (login, personalisation of content)

  • Google Analytics (statistics)

  • Google Tag Manager (organisation and scripts on the website)

  • Facebook insights (advertising)

  • Mailchimp (newsletters)

  • FundraiseUp (fundraising campaigns)

  • Squarespace (web development services)

  • Salesforce (customer relations management)

WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS CONCERNING MY PERSONAL DATA?

You can gain access to your personal data and, within the framework of the applicable law, for example request that the data be corrected or deleted.
US & EU law regulates any circumstances or disputes that may arise in connection with the processing of your personal data.

FundraiseUP

NRC USA uses Fundraise Up as an online donation platform. All donation data collected is subject to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”), and other applicable privacy laws. Non-Personal Information that is collected remains anonymous or non-personally identifiable. All Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is encrypted. Financial information such as banking information or credit card number, name, CVV code or date of expiration, is collected and stored by a third party payment processor. Financial information is not stored by Fundraise Up.

When making a donation, information collected may include:

  • Contact and account information such as name, email address, physical address, location data, phone number, and social media information;

  • Technical information collected. Such information may include standard web log entries that contain IP address, cookies (first party, third party, session, persistent, and flash), web beacons, page URL and timestamp.
